About thirty-four years ago I was told that a very dear friend was in a San Francisco hospital. I called to see him, and found that he had had twenty-three tumors removed. The surgeons had overlooked two, which they told him were the cause of his suffering. The doctors then sent him to some warm springs to take hot baths, but this did not give him any relief. He came home from the springs in a much worse condition than when he went away. At this time Christian Science was presented to him. He accepted it and was soon healed.
After I witnessed this healing, it took about two years and a half of constant insisting before he could get me to give Christian Science a trial for myself. I was very much in need of physical healing, as I had been taking medicine constantly for eight or ten years, but kept getting worse. I suffered from malaria, constant sick headaches, colds, indigestion, sciatica, inflammatory and muscular rheumatism, influenza, and had warts on the hand. I was healed of all these through Christian Science. Twice I had ptomaine poisoning. The first time I was healed after two days' treatment by a practitioner; the second time I made an instantaneous demonstration myself. The desire for intoxicants and for tobacco chewing and smoking was healed in one treatment over thirty years ago.
For all of these healings I am indeed very grateful to God, the Giver of all good, and to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.— Oakland, California.
