Some years ago I thought it humorous to tease one who was a student of Christian Science. Finally an attack of lumbago failed to respond to medical treatment; so with humility I asked for help in Christian Science from this same student, who gave me a copy of "The People's Idea of God" by" Mary Baker Eddy. Through the help so lovingly given, and by reading the above-mentioned book, I was relieved of this condition in two or three days and also healed of the desire to joke about Christian Science.
Soon I was attending church services and visiting Christian Science Reading Rooms in this country and in Canada. Right here I want to express appreciation for help received at these Reading Rooms from those in charge and for loving rebuke, which was needed at times.
I have taken no material remedies in seven years and have been healed of frequent colds. For the healing of two attacks of grippe, each in a few hours, I am grateful to a faithful practitioner. I attribute my healing of the desire for alcoholic beverages largely to the reading of editorials and articles on prohibition in The Christian Science Monitor. The smoking, profanity, vulgarity, and other habits that go along with the use of the above beverages have disappeared. I was a smoker of a pipe and of cigars for over twenty-five years.
