Words seem very inadequate to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has brought into my life. When I was four years old a supposedly inherited disease, which the physicians called psoriasis, appeared all over my body. After I had passed many weary years under medical treatment, trying baths, change of climate, and so on, sometimes growing better and then again worse, my life became a burden to me; and upon reaching young womanhood I thought the only way out of it all was to end my existence. My mother was urging me to give Christian Science a trial, but I had no faith and wanted to go to see another specialist on skin diseases. I did so, but when told my case was incurable, I asked a friend of my mother, a Christian Science practitioner, if there was any hope for me. She assured me that I could be healed. I began reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and for nine months had Christian Science treatment.
To anyone who has become discouraged and possibly given up because complete healing has not been experienced, I want to say, Keep right on, for nothing is too hard for God to heal. My healing was slow; but, like Naaman of old, when I became obedient and humble I received my healing, and my "flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child." I learned that "humility is lens and prism to the understanding of Mind-healing," as Mrs. Eddy says on page 356 of "Miscellaneous Writings."
I can truthfully say that "whereas I was blind, now I see." I know now the real joy of telling others the "old, old story," and of bringing this practical religion, Christian Science, into their lives.
