Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German]

With profound gratitude I wish...

From the June 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With profound gratitude I wish to testify to all the love and goodness which my relatives and I have experienced in Christian Science. When I first heard of it I had always been sickly. My mother had attended Christian Science services several times, and also the Thanksgiving service, and she told me about them when I came home from the place where I had been employed. At first I was very skeptical, and said, "How can any person, such as we all are, heal the sick?" But at the same time I felt myself strongly attracted to Christian Science, partly from curiosity and partly with the thought that in the end I, too, might be healed.

I turned to a practitioner on account of a very bad eruption on my face, which had tormented me for a long time; and I was completely healed. Since then years have passed, and I am so grateful that Christian Science has come into my life.

Once when I was out walking with my seven-year-old nephew, who was visiting my parents during his vacation, he suddenly tore away from my hand and ran straight across the street. At that very moment an automobile came driving along and knocked him down. The people in the car took the boy at once to our house, which was near by, and sent for a doctor. He diagnosed a severe case of concussion of the brain and excoriations. We were very much afraid; but when my mother and I were alone with the child we quieted down and tried to declare the truth of being. We felt, however, that our understanding was not sufficient; so I wrote immediately to a Christian Science practitioner with whom we were well acquainted and asked him for help, which was readily given. The practitioner declared that 'God's creation is eternally protected by His unchangeable, all-inclusive love; that nothing in this creation ever happens contrary to His mandate; that to Principle, Love, there is no counteraction; that the supposititious accident was a delusion, and this delusion must be corrected; that we must know that the divine Being, with His perfection and harmony, is reflected completely by His child.
