I wish to express my gratitude for the many demonstrations of healing I have had through Christian Science. It was brought to our notice in 1913 by my brother, who was employed by a Christian Scientist. My father passed on that year, and my mother thought she had nothing left to live for. We took up the study of Christian Science, and it seemed to open up a new life for us.
In 1916 I had a trolley accident on a very lonely road. I had a dog with me, and the motorman, thinking he had hit the dog, did not stop to investigate. I was left on the road in a bleeding and unconscious condition for one hour and forty-five minutes. When found I was removed to a hospital. Christian Science treatment was immediately taken up for me. For two weeks the doctors would give no hope for my recovery. I had a double fracture of the skull and a dislocated collar bone. In less than five weeks I was taken home, and gradually gained strength. Later on I was able to take a position.
In 1925 I had internal trouble and was in constant pain for five weeks. We were staying in the country at the time. My relatives insisted that I have a doctor. He came and gave me some medicine to take, and warned me to be very careful in the future or the complaint would become chronic. I took some of the medicine, but it did not help me. As soon as I could get away I went to see a Christian Science practitioner, and in less than one week was completely cured.
