When a child of nine or ten years, I was healed through Christian Science very quickly of pneumonia. The doctors had said there was nothing more that they could do. As one child in the family had passed on with this disease some years before, there was a great deal of fear expressed by both my mother and my father. A Christian Science practitioner in Chicago was called, as there were none in this city at that time. She came out to see us. First she took my father and my mother aside and explained the truth to them and helped to destroy their fear. Then she came in to me and gave me a treatment. I got better immediately, and shortly after was entirely healed.
About three years after this healing a Christian Science Society was started here, and I attended the Sunday school until I was twenty. I have always been most grateful for the truths I learned in the Sunday school. The teaching there gave me such a different sense of life and of all things.
During all these years I have had many beautiful proofs of the healing, regenerative, and protective power of Christian Science when faithfully and honestly applied. Burns, chilblains, sick headaches, a very painful attack of tonsillitis, influenza in a severe form, and numerous other physical difficulties have been healed, some with my own understanding of the truth and others with the help of a practitioner. The tonsillitis was healed with one treatment.
