Over twenty-seven years ago I received my first Christian Science treatment, and was healed in a few hours of a severe nervous sick headache. This healing was a great revelation to me, as I had suffered many years from frequent attacks of this malady. A copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and a Christian Science Quarterly were purchased, and the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon was begun and has continued throughout the intervening years.
Through the study of the Bible, in connection with Science and Health and other writings by our Leader, and the help of faithful practitioners, I have been healed of a diseased stomach, a stubborn bowel disorder, bilious malaria, insomnia, nervous exhaustion, pain in the back, head, and eyes, and a terrible mental depression which at times made life seem unbearable; in fact, I thought that I wanted to die, but since learning that God is Life and the source of my health and strength, I have realized more each day how grand it is to live—to express Life, Truth, and Love, which is true living.
I am deeply grateful for the physical healings, as they are the proof that Christian Science is the Comforter which Jesus promised to send to us. However, words are inadequate to express my gratitude to Christian Science for giving me an understanding of God as Love and of man as His reflection. I am convinced that obedience to the law of God as contained in the Bible and elucidated by Christian Science will solve any problem, large or small. I have attained a degree of peace and happiness which I did not deem possible to experience on this earth. True happiness is coming into my experience as I seek it through spiritual means instead of material. Happiness is more the result of giving than of getting. It is my desire to express my gratitude by using every opportunity to bring the truth to my brother man.— Edwardsville, Illinois.
