Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German]

Profound gratitude prompts me...

From the February 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Profound gratitude prompts me to relate a healing I was privileged to experience. In February, 1929, I was taken ill with serious catarrh of the throat, and in a short time could be understood only with difficulty. This condition caused me and those around me much suffering. I consulted various doctors without gaining any relief. They all told me I was suffering from tuberculosis of the lungs and larynx, and among other things advised me to go to Bad Salzburnn I went there, hoping to be healed, but the course of treatment did not bring about any improvement. Then dear friends called my attention to Christian Science, and I asked a practitioner for help. After a few days my voice improved, and in the measure I learned to understand the blessed teachings of Christian Science I was able to speak clearly and distinctly.

Nevertheless, error still caused me a great deal of trouble; for the district trict medical officer would not believe I was fully healed. In addition to this, my apprentices were told that my illness was contagious. So in order to divest error of its final seeming power I went to the district medical officer and was X-rayed. He pronounced me perfectly well. I knew that I had been healed through the power of God.

I am sincerely grateful to God, my creator and sustainer, for this healing. I am also grateful to the dear practitioner for her loving help, and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her wonderful textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the other instructive literature. These are very valuable to me, because I can seldom take part in the Sunday services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings. It will be my earnest endeavor to understand more and more of this wonderful teaching, and to apply it in daily life.—
