Believing that those who have experienced the wonderful healings made available through the study of Christian Science owe to humanity a fitting recognition of the same in testimony, in this spirit I offer the following.
In the year 1907 my attention was drawn to the study of Christian Science through having treatment for my daughter, a girl of fourteen, who was suffering with what the physicians called acute asthma. When our own family doctor told us that there was nothing further that he could do, and practically stated that there was no dependable remedy for the ailment, at the child's request we turned to Christian Science. The healing seemed slow but it was complete, and one feature of the treatment I have often recalled as having been especially to my own advantage. The practitioner left with us a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, asking me to read to my daughter each evening and, as the child might not be able to grasp quickly the meaning of some of the statements, to give some word of explanation. This necessitated a more careful analysis of the statements in the textbook than I might otherwise have made, and I soon became engrossed in its study.
Many other wonderful healings have taken place in the family, including, in my own experience, that of broken bones resulting from a bad fall from the upper limbs of a fruit tree. In four days I was able to sit up in a chair and look after my correspondence and in two weeks to discontinue my accident insurance payments. Later I was healed of ptomaine poisoning, a large tumor, and a number of other physical discords, in addition to being helped in many annoying business situations. I have found Christian Science a remedy for every human discord. I can never fittingly express my gratitude for the blessing of having Christian Science study with its healing truth available at all times.— Lockport, New York.
