Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science was presented...

From the August 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science was presented to me in 1913, and it has been a great blessing. A dear friend lent me a Christian Science Journal which I gladly accepted, although I did not have any knowledge of this Science except that I had been told that it healed sick folk. I read the Journal through and on returning it was given another one; when I had read this copy about half through I suddenly realized that I was healed of stomach and bowel trouble from which I had suffered since early childhood. I sat astonished for some time, pondering the healing, and I remembered that for at least the last three meals I had eaten food that I had not been able to eat for a long time, and with no bad results. I knew then that God through Christian Science had healed me.

Soon other healings were realized, such as the healing of rheumatism, neuralgia, and headaches. When I was a beginner in Science, by repeating "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health, I was healed of a bad burn on the palm of my hand. The thought was presented that I should not be able to go on with a washing which I had expected to do that day; but I mentally declared that nothing could hinder my work, and I went on as usual and kept my hand in water until the work was done. I have had many other healings which have proved to me that Christian Science does heal all discordant conditions when earnestly applied.

It is recorded in John that Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Our beloved Leader says on page 174 of Science and Health: "Truth is revealed. It needs only to be practised." I am grateful for the Christian Science Quarterly—problems are often solved by going through the Lesson-Sermon during the day; for the Publishing Society, for our helpful literature; for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for class instruction.—
