In gratitude for the blessings which I have experienced and witnessed in my family and among my friends since I first knew about Christian Science, I am submitting this testimony. My first knowledge of our dear Leader was when as a young girl I accompanied my aunt, who was a patient of Mrs. Eddy's, to her home in Boston. As she passed through an arch leading to the reception hall to greet us, her presence seemed to me like what my concept of an angel was at that time. Her sweet face I have never forgotten, and the love and peace experienced have always made a deep impression upon me.
My grandmother attended the services at Chickering Hall, Boston, where she had the privilege of hearing our Leader at her meetings. The inspiration and understanding which she received at these meetings, she expressed to me in love, generosity, kindness, and justice.
At a time of a so-called smallpox epidemic, my little daughter was vaccinated. Before this experience she was a normal child, but afterwards she was in poor health. I consulted a Christian Science Journal, and from the list of practitioners selected one whom I had heard about and asked her to give the child treatment. In less than three weeks she was healed. When two months old my daughter was healed of constipation instantaneously through the help of a friend, proving that "Mind regulates the condition of the stomach, bowels, and food, the temperature of children and of men, and matter does not," as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 413).
