About thirteen years ago, while looking for a new church home, I was invited to attend the Sunday service in a Christian Science church. I accepted, and the peace and harmony which I felt there were wonderful. I continued going on Sundays, and attended the Thanksgiving Day service, when I heard such testimonies that I have never forgotten them. I soon began to study this Science, and after a short time found that I had been healed of a condition with which I had been troubled from childhood. This was accomplished through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
While in New York and under the care of a specialist for a condition which he called ulcerated stomach, I was given a prescription which I always kept on hand. This relieved the intense pain, but did not heal. When I moved to Florida I asked for a copy of this prescription. After the first healing in Christian Science I had forgotten about the medicine, which I had laid away. I was not tempted to take it in the next two years, but was able to overcome the attacks with my own work. Then a severe attack caused me to ask help of a friend, and in the course of the work, which took a month, it was revealed to me that I was mentally holding to the old remedy even though I was not using it. I then destroyed it, and that afternoon I was healed, and experienced the peace which Paul says "passeth all understanding."
I have seen cancer healed, as well as influenza, pneumonia, carbuncles, a severe case of blood poisoning, and pleurisy. The last was healed instantaneously while some of Jesus' experiences were being read and pondered. I attribute my growth in Christian Science to the activities in which I have had the privilege of participating as a member of a branch church.
