It is a joy and a sacred privilege to testify to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. About eleven years ago I was encouraged to try Christian Science for the healing of a complete mental and physical breakdown. Only those who have gone through this experience can realize just what it means to be freed from the constant torment which argues day and night. After I had exhausted medical aid, and thought that death was the only way out, a friend lovingly advised me to take up the study of Christian Science. I was divinely guided to a consecrated practitioner through whose clear explanations of Truth the light of spiritual understanding dawned on my consciousness; and the darkness of mental chaos was dispelled. My healing was not instantaneous, for much wrong thinking had to be destroyed. As the thoughts of fear, hatred, malice, and so forth, were exchanged for the ideas of Soul, I was set free. I am grateful that I can realize in a degree that peace which passes all human understanding.
I have had many other healings. A severe pain in my right side was destroyed in three days through loving help, and the necessity for wearing glasses, chronic catarrh supposed to be inherited, influenza, and many other discordant conditions have been overcome. My daughter has been healed of many so-called children's diseases: chicken pox; mumps, measles, irritating rash, and a bad case of poisoning. She had a beautiful healing of a sore toe and so-called athletic foot.
While I am grateful for all of these physical healings, I am most grateful that Christian Science has taught me the correct concept of God as Life, Truth, and Love, omnipotent and omnipresent. I am grateful to God for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy; for the blessed privilege of class instruction; for the practitioners who are always ready to help us onward and upward; for the workers all over the Field who are spreading the truth; for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the glorious privilege of serving in the Cause of Christian Science. —Dayton, Ohio.
