OPPORTUNITY, viewed in the light of Christian Science, is of the deepest and happiest significance, as increasing multitudes have reason to know. Opportunity is thus found to be always present, opportunity not only for success in business, whatever one's proper business may be, but for health, harmonious relationships, security, satisfaction, for all that is good. This teaching is based on the fact, fully revealed in Christian Science, that God, good, is infinite, and therefore ever present and ever the only presence. Mrs. Eddy, the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 414:) "The Scripture declares, The Lord He is God [good]; there is none else beside Him.' Even so, harmony is universal, and discord is unreal."
All that really exists, then, is the manifestation of good; and this fact constitutes man's glorious and unchanging opportunity. For man, as understood in Science, the real spiritual man made in God's likeness, is ever manifesting good. Good is his opportunity and his joyous necessity, for by nature he expresses infinite good forever. This is the actual spiritual truth about everyone; and the student of Christian Science has the assurance of this Science that he can prove it according to his need.
The need in every instance, as Science shows us, is to recognize opportunity as present; and the earnest student soon learns the value of watchfulness on this point. What an impressive fact it is, for example, that the one who in this age has best understood the truth that makes free should have given herself with such devotion to the development of precisely those facilities that would best help others to understand it as she did; and that these facilities are now at our service! Obviously, we may well consider often whether we are drinking as fully as we might at these fountains of inspiration provided by our Leader.
