SING!

From the January 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

O lonely one, do not forget to sing
Though shadows gather at the eventide.
There is no river, dark and deep and wide,
Between you and your own to whom you cling
That Jesus did not bridge by sacrifice;
The Christ is here, by mortal eyes unseen,
With Love supreme and Life that never dies.
This understanding, sung at midnight hour
At Philippi, proved Truth's releasing power.

Sing with the spirit, making melody
Within your heart, though voice and lips are still;
With understanding sing, while hands may be
Employed in working out the Master's will.
Sing as the angels sing, and sing with them
A song of peace and love for all mankind.
Sing till indeed you touch the garment's hem,
The healing truth that liberates the mind
And lifts the veil of sense, releasing wings
Of victory to one who, trusting, sings.
