Gratefully acknowledging the many blessings which have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science I give this testimony. Nearly twenty one years ago I caught my first glimpse of what the understanding of divine Mind can do, for I was healed, in one absent treatment, of appendicitis, after surgeons had given me the verdict that an operation within twelve hours was absolutely imperative.
The intervening years have witnessed many healings—some through my own understanding, others with the help of ever patient and loving practitioners. In the rearing of a son and a daughter, the understanding of Mrs. Eddy's words, "In Science, divine Love alone governs man" (Manual, Art. VIII, Sect. 1), has' been of inestimable help.
Fifteen years ago a demonstration was made which always stands out among the other healings as a time of renewal and progress in striving to gain a clearer understanding of God as Principle. For about ten days I was under the kind care of physicians, called in by members of the family. On hearing that an operation was necessary, I awakened and insisted on their calling a Christian Science practitioner, who arrived about fifteen minutes before the ambulance. After I received a treatment and listened to her loving words, a great peace enfolded me. Next morning I was free from pain, but socalled jaundice had made its appearance, so an operation was out of the question. My request to return home was granted. In less than a week all signs of the ailment had disappeared. To the practitioner who, through her clear understanding, made this demonstration, I shall ever be grateful; grateful, too, for help she has continued to give throughout the ensuing years, for her loving rebukes and gentle guidance toward the realization that God is Mind.
