I give this testimony with a desire to express my sincere gratitude to God, and to share with others the abundance of good I have received from the study and application of the truth as taught in Christian Science. This beautiful teaching has been the means of my completely overcoming many discordant physical and moral conditions.
For five years I suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, and during the whole of that time I was not free from pain. My joints had become much enlarged and deformed, and it was only with great difficulty that I was able to move about. I exhausted practically every known material method of healing, but received no permanent benefit. Finally in my search for health I became a slave to physical hygiene. In fact, I concentrated so much on fasting and on various kinds of dieting that I developed a morbid fear of food. I was fearful of everything, for I believed man to be under the domination of so called material law. It was the beautiful truth, the healing power of divine Love, as revealed in Christian Science, that cast this fear from my consciousness.
On page 393 of Science and Health we read: "Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man." By my strict obedience to this scientific admonition of our Leader, I became conscious of the healing power of Truth, and the deformity was replaced by a normal condition of the joints. Within a few months I was able to resume the normal activities of life. I gained strength rapidly and before long was enjoying health and happiness. Much consecrated study was necessary before I gained my complete freedom, but with the aid of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, and also through the help of a practitioner, Truth was proved the victor.
