Testimonies of Healing

It is with a great sense of gratitude...

From the April 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a great sense of gratitude and joy that I send my testimony. I first knew of Christian Science through loving friends, but for a long time I did not study it much, not being sufficiently interested, and thinking I did not have the necessary time. Soon after we had a radio in our home I noticed that the Sunday morning church services were being radiocast, and as I listened to these services I became more and more interested. I then got in touch with another student of Christian Science who lived in the neighborhood, and began to study earnestly, with many blessings resulting. The Bible, which I had seldom read previously, and then with only a vague understanding, now became a source of joy to me, as I had the "key" to it in our Leader's textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

The birth of my last child, for which Christian Science help was given, occurred with comparatively little pain when I was alone in the house, and everything was harmonious. This experience was very different from the former ones, when I had had a great deal of suffering, and in one instance, complications which resulted in the loss of the child. I was also healed of almost lifelong constipation, always having had to diet or resort to the constant use of laxatives. I am now entirely free from this condition, and can eat anything I wish.

I am gradually overcoming fear by knowing that God is Love and by realizing the unreality of all evil and of so many things which used to seem real and formidable. Like all others who are striving for a better understanding of God, I have had doubts, defeats, and seeming failures, but when we study the Christian Science Quarterly Lesson Sermon each day and the authorized literature, we are encouraged to press on. I am thankful to say that I am gradually overcoming many faults of character, and am expressing more love and tolerance toward others.
