My heart overflows with gratitude to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science for giving to the world a practical religion, that of Truth and Love, which frees from error of every sort. I found Christian Science through a Sentinel, which was sent to me while I was in a sanitarium. According to materia medica both my lungs were affected by tuberculosis. At the time I found Christian Science, I had been confined to bed for five months. The promises of God, as revealed in the Sentinel, were sufficient to give me strength and power to leave my bed, and that very day return to my home, much against the doctor's wishes. After one absent treatment I was sufficiently strengthened to go about my duties and attend to my two babies, and while receiving my first present treatment, I was instantaneously healed. This healing took place in 1914, and it has been permanent.
We now have five children, and it has not been necessary to have any help outside of Christian Science. Love alone has been our liberator. Other healings have been numerous. Second degree burns were healed in four days, through the help of a practitioner. The various so-called children's diseases vanished into nothingness through the application of the truth, and most of the difficulties were overcome instantly. Sciatica, which was believed to be hereditary, has been completely healed.
More recently, there have been healings of blurring of sight and severe headaches; also a growth behind the ear was destroyed in one treatment by the healing power of Truth and Love. When help was asked for, the pain was overcome and a sense of itching was felt. In the morning the ear had discharged and the condition had disappeared. There have been many other healings, too numerous to mention, but the thing for which I am most grateful is the understanding Christian Science gives us of God and of man's relationship to Him. This understanding has enabled me to be more loving and patient.
