My wife and I became interested...

From the January 1937 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My wife and I became interested in Christian Science about nine years ago, hoping that through it she might be healed of a skin disease known as psoriasis, from which she had suffered since girlhood. Year by year the discordant condition was becoming more pronounced, and it had been declared incurable by the many medical practitioners by whom my wife had been treated. For some time no improvement was noticed; but we were encouraged to persevere because of the many other benefits which we found ourselves receiving from the study of Christian Science. The complete and permanent healing was manifested about five years ago, following the harmonious birth of our younger daughter. At the time of this child's birth my wife was treated by a Christian Science practitioner and was attended by a Christian Science nurse.

I am most grateful for the innumerable ways in which the study and application of our Leader's teachings have been of help to me in business. During the years of the recent business depression the abundance of all good was very clearly realized, and one of the results of this clear realization of the truth was that, far from being adversely affected, my business actually increased very considerably in volume. Further, through my endeavor to see only the real man—the reflection of good—in myself and in all my business associates and contacts, many business difficulties have been and are being overcome.

Through Christian Science I have experienced healings of gallstones, severe nervous headaches, a growth on the heel, and the smoking habit, and have been freed from the necessity of using glasses for reading. It is now over eight years since I discarded reading glasses, and in that time I have never felt the need of them. Our children have been healed of the effects of accidents and of whooping cough, measles, colds, mumps, impetigo, and chicken pox. I desire to express my sincere gratitude for all of these blessings and for the authorized literature, for our church organization, for the faithful practitioners, for membership in The Mother Church, and for membership and the privilege of service in a branch church.—
