With heartfelt gratitude I wish to give the following testimony.
I have been a student of Christian Science for years and have received many blessings. A test of such magnitude came to me recently that I had to ask a practitioner for help, which was lovingly given. My little daughter became alarmingly ill. I thought her trouble appendicitis and asked for help. After two days of absent treatment my fear was still having ill effects, so I decided to take the child to the city where the practitioner lived. Help was given and the child seemed better. I returned home, but was still overanxious. One night the trouble seemed so severe that I feared the child would pass on. Early in the morning I called the practitioner over the long-distance telephone. During our talk she asked if my husband desired a doctor and an operation. I could truthfully say, No, for him; but I had been thinking all the day before and during the night that I might be sorry if I did not call a doctor. Although I was not proud of myself in telling this, I thought for the child's sake I must, and I did tell her. Tenderly and kindly she told me she wanted me to have what I wanted in the case. I replied that I thought I must take a firm stand for Christian Science. I asked her if she thought the trouble could be routed, and she gave me loving assurance. I returned home, and within half an hour a great change for the better came to the child. In the afternoon she was sitting up cutting out paper dolls. In a very short time she was her old healthy self again.
Another cause for gratitude came about during this time. I had just moved to a small town and knew no one. I longed for any Christian Scientist to come in. A member of the little society to which I belong was driving through the town and came in to see me for a few minutes. She stopped on her return trip three days later and rejoiced with us at the change in the little girl.
