Testimonies of Healing

We did not come to Christian Science...

From the May 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We did not come to Christian Science for a healing, for we did not realize at the time our great need; but, in expressing a little kindness to a friend, we were led to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in one of the Christian Science churches in a large city. Nothing we have experienced so nearly approaches our thought of heaven as that Wednesday evening meeting. We had been doing much public work, making a careful study of faces, and as we watched the faces of those hundreds of happy people we said, "What is it that these people have that we have never seen in the faces of a church group before?" Then and there was born in us the desire to know and to have that precious light.

Many years have passed since then, and we have been wonderfully protected and guided as we have learned more and more of reality through the divinely inspired writings of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and have had the privilege of growing in the activities of the church which she founded.

There have been many tasks which were not easy. Early in the days of the so-called depression, my husband went back into schoolwork as a teacher, after being out of this line of work for more than twenty years. Our daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and radical reliance on the guidance of Mind enabled him to do this work so that at the end of the first year he had offers of three positions for the next year.
