Just before taking up the study of Christian Science, I went to a chiropractor for relief from extreme nervousness with all its attendant disorders. After an examination he stated that a vertebra was badly displaced, which might cause blindness or insanity. This added more fear and confusion. Somehow I realized that only God could help me, and I decided to give Christian Science a trial. The textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, seemed difficult to understand at first, but I started attending Christian Science lectures and reading the periodicals. Gradually fear vanished; insomnia, an underweight condition, and sick headaches were healed, glasses were discarded, and life became more joyous, free, and beautiful.
During this time we were going through what was known as the depression. My husband's salary decreased to the minimum which employers were allowed to pay. He was the last draftsman left on the pay roll out of a group of twenty, and" was told to accept another position if one came.
