I am grateful that through the study and application of Christian Science thousands are in some measure learning to answer the question, "What is truth?"
For several years I had searched for a practical religion. Membership in an orthodox Protestant church had long ceased to meet my ever-expanding spiritual needs. Discouragement, frustration of ambitions humanly considered right and praiseworthy, inharmonious relationships in family and business, as well as among friends, an indifferent and often poor state of health, and a sense of unreasonable fear all loomed as insurmountable obstacles to happiness and well-being. Sometimes fear and discouragement drove me to such depths of mental darkness that I seriously contemplated suicide.
All the while I was eagerly searching for a way out. I read and studied books on various systems of religion and ethics. All these systems portrayed very well the problems of human existence, but they, too, failed to bring the peace, harmony, and healing I so much needed. As a last resort I went to a practitioner of Christian Science for help.
