It is with a heart full of humble...

From the January 1943 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a heart full of humble gratitude that I write this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science evidenced in my own experience as well as in that of many others.

This Science was first presented to me in the year 1901. Soon after that noticeable changes took place in my life, followed by a gradual improvement in health and the dropping of all material remedies and consultation with physicians. I procured a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and began to read the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. About one month later I found I was free from an organic disease from which I had suffered for several years under medical treatment.

Let me state that I could clearly trace this healing to a change in my own thinking, not about my body but about my disposition, being sensitive to what I believed to be unjust criticism or treatment. After a period of years this had developed into a deep resentment, and according to Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 324 of Science and Health it was plain to me that my body was reflecting the discord of my thought, so I proceeded earnestly to rid myself of this unhappy way of thinking about myself and others. It was a campaign of mental housecleaning, in which I learned to follow Paul's example as indicated in Philippians 3:13, 14.
