From the January 1943 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I was a child I attended the Sunday school of an orthodox church of which my parents were members. There was also a Christian Science Sunday School within walking distance, which I was permitted to attend at will. At the age of fifteen years I joined the orthodox church. With the ensuing years problems multiplied, and I found that this religion did not satisfy my longing for a present help in time of need. I believed in God, but it seemed to me that He was far off and did not' always hear my cry. At this point I began to ponder what I had been taught of Christian Science, and began studying it more earnestly than ever before, and with open heart and mind. I found God to be ever present and most satisfying.

In Science and Health, on page 4, Mrs. Eddy says, "What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds," and on page 10 she says, "Seeking is not sufficient; it is striving that enables us to enter." With this thought in mind, and a growing desire to know more about God, I was led to join The Mother Church and a branch church. Later I was privileged to teach in the Sunday school, and since then I have had a part in many church activities.

In our home many healings have taken place through the years. There would not be room in the space allotted to enumerate them. Among them, gloomy dispositions have given place to happy ones.
