Christian Science came to me in an hour of great need. It came to me as an answer to prayer for something beyond and outside of my human selfhood. Christian Science has been my only physician for twenty-four years, and for what it has brought into my life I can never cease to be grateful; nor can I tell, in one testimony, of its healing power and of the blessing it has brought to my family and to me.
When I became interested, there was not one thing I could do efficiently to earn a living, nor did I have proper clothing. I had help from a Christian Science practitioner and was led to take a place in a home where there was a need, and learned to perform household duties. I disliked the work from nearly every angle, but through the help of the practitioner and my own earnest study of the Bible, together with Science and Health and the other writings of Mary Baker Eddy, I not only learned to do the work but to love every bit of it and to be of real service in that home. That experience has been the foundation of all my work, and in the years which have followed, Love's divine economy has unfolded to meet all my needs.
I have also had several physical healings, some instantaneous, while others have taken longer. A severe attack of jaundice was healed by radical reliance upon God, through the help of Christian Science practitioners. During this experience there was a time when the way seemed very difficult indeed, but I would say to anyone reading this testimony that if such a testing time ever comes, remember the words of Scripture, "The battle is not your's, but God's." Some four years later I experienced another attack, much less severe. With the help of a practitioner it was overcome in a month. Since then many arguments have come, only to be destroyed, and there has been no further appearance of the disease.
