Many years of academic study had given me little equipment with which to face the trying ordeal of seeing my husband suffer bravely for many months in spite of the generous, kindly efforts of members of the medical profession to help him. It was not until about two years after he had passed on that my thought was sufficiently humble for Truth to dawn in consciousness, and its radiant freshness dispelled the dark shadows of resentment, intense fear, and ignorance of spiritual reality.
Today, through the unfailing illumination of Truth shining from our textbooks—the Bible, and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and our Leader's other writings—I realize that I no longer need to fathom the shallows of intellectual reasoning and scholasticism as a guide to living fully. I can now rely upon the promises of divine Science and listen to the angels of Love, knowing that, as Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 299), "With white fingers they point upward to a new and glorified trust, to higher ideals of life and its joys."
I too can swell the paean of praise and gratitude to God for healing. Since reading Science and Health through I have not needed to take medicine of any kind, though previously I had felt it necessary to spend much for this purpose. After studying for a little less than a year I was able to prove conclusively that Christian Science does heal.
