In every field of endeavor—school, business, music, athletics, and so on—there are certain rules for the guidance of all. And the wise pupil not only learns the rules but applies them. He knows that success will be in proportion to his correct understanding and application of them. It follows that in order to progress one must continue to put them into practice, for only in this way is it possible to understand and apply the next higher rule. To continue in obedience to the rules laid down—to continue in doing well whatever is undertaken—brings about the desired good results.
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 254) we read, "Imperfect mortals grasp the ultimate of spiritual perfection slowly: but to begin aright and to continue the strife of demonstrating the great problem of being, is doing much."
Christian Science teaches that there is but one Mind, which is God, and that man reflects this Mind. All true activity is the result of spirituality or right thinking about God, man, and the universe, and this activity is evidence of divine intelligence, which, as it is expressed, continually blesses mankind.
