Testimonies of Healing

In gratitude for the many healings I...

From the November 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In gratitude for the many healings I have received through the understanding and application of Christian Science, I want to tell the following experiences.

In the summer of 1943, while visiting relatives in one of the southern states, I was healed of the sting of a scorpion. The sting was very painful, and as I had been told a scorpion's sting was poisonous I became quite fearful. Then I began to reason that since God is the only creator, in His creation one idea cannot harm another, so I did not need to be afraid. I worked faithfully according to the teaching of Christian Science for nearly two hours before the pain lessened and I went to sleep. Next morning the thumb which was stung felt numb and stiff, but I instantly denied that condition, and was soon absolutely free.

Some months later I had a healing of what I suppose would have been called influenza. I had spent a very uncomfortable night, and when I turned on my light at six o'clock the next morning to read the Lesson, it seemed impossible for me to be up and dressed by eight o'clock, which was the time I should start to work. But as I read I held fast to the truth, and kept knowing that there was no power that was able to keep me from being in my right place, at the right time. At eight o'clock I was up and dressed, and I walked ten blocks to the place where I was working.
