The statement on page 449 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing," was proved early in my study. I was healed in six months of chronic rheumatism after suffering for seven years. Lung trouble with all the symptoms of consumption, and great fear because relatives had passed on with this disease, were completely overcome by persistent daily study. Final deliverance came when I attended a church service at which Hymn No. 102 from the Christian Science Hymnal was sung. The meaning of the first verse stood out so clearly that I realized God's law was operating, making the action of the so-called law of heredity impossible.
A very painful condition of tender feet was completely healed in Christian Science. This healing was slow, for many faults of character and hereditary traits had to be cast out to make place for the healing truth. I shall ever be grateful for the valuable lessons I learned and the progress I made during that experience.
One evening I started out to attend church, but had proceeded only a little way when I was seized with intense fear for my little daughter whom I had left at home. The suggestion came to return home, but I stood quietly by the roadside and reasoned thus: "Can my personal presence save or protect as the realization of the omnipresent Mind can save and heal?" I lifted my thought to God and instantly there came to me the truth that a Christian Science lecturer had voiced regarding man's incorporeality and spiritual consciousness. I worked along those lines as I went on my way until all fear and anxiety were eliminated, and I rejoiced in knowing that all was well with God's child.
