In the year 1906, I was given a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I regard as one of my dearest possessions.
For many years I had been ill with an internal growth which the doctors could not remove without an operation. I was desperately afraid of this, so I went on suffering, hoping that some doctor would find another way to heal me.
Friends began to advise me to try Christian Science for healing, but I thought it some kind of ism, and would not consider it. The condition became so desperate that I prayed to God for a sign to show me if Christian Science was the right way for me. Finally the sign was so definitely given that my doubts were completely removed.
