For eleven years I have enjoyed reading the testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals. Now I feel that it is my turn to express my gratitude.
I was very much in need of help when Christian Science was presented to me by a kind neighbor. My first healing was that of ulcers and hemorrhage, from which I had suffered for twenty years. The doctors expressed fear of cancer, and I lived in constant fear of that name. My healing was slow, but it came about when my thoughts were purified.
I began to realize what St. John meant when he said (John 1:1), "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." I saw that the word "cancer" was not given by God. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 528), "Beholding the creations of his own dream and calling them real and God-given, Adam — alias error—gives them names." I realized that there was in reality no mortal mind or Adam to give names, and to call one illness more serious than another. God knows nothing of sickness. He named everything "very good." This healing is one of many I have received through the study of Christian Science.
