I have received so many blessings and seen so much good accomplished through the study and application of Christian Science that I should like to add my testimony to the many already given.
Christian Science found me in a very confused state of thought. I could not understand why, in such a beautiful and wonderful universe, so much evil should seem to predominate. What was good in my own make-up seemed at times to be so overshadowed by illness and irritability that I gave up reading my Bible and just drifted. However, I had been brought up in a home where God was believed in, and occasionally a verse or two from the Bible would come to me as though to remind me of God.
Looking back, I can see that I was divinely led to take up the study of Christian Science. My first healing, that of indigestion, came when I first read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. A little later, acute rheumatism and neuritis were destroyed in three weeks' time through the faithful and patient work of a Christian Science practitioner. A nervous breakdown was healed, also through the work of a practitioner. This practitioner caused me to see how futile and ridiculous is self-pity; that there is no selfhood apart from God, and therefore nothing to pity. I was quickly healed. Recurring attacks of influenza have been overcome through my own work, and a badly sprained ankle was healed in three days.
