The Normal class in the Board of Education, which is held triennially in accordance with the provision in Article XXVI, Section 4, of the Church Manual, held its sessions early in December, 1946. (See Manual, Article XXX, Section 1.)

The class of thirty pupils was taught by Miss Mary G. Ewing, C. S. B., of Chicago, Illinois, who is well known among Christian Scientists as one who has served the Cause of Christian Science loyally and faithfully for many years. In addition to her work as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science, Miss Ewing was for a number of years a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship. Later, for some years she was on the Bible Lesson Committee. From June 1, 1942, to June 3, 1946, she held the office of Clerk of The Mother Church, and served as its President from June, 1933, to June, 1934. Miss Ewing's parents were pioneer workers in our movement, her mother, Mrs. Ruth B. Ewing, having been one of Mrs. Eddy's pupils, and a Christian Science teacher. Her father, Judge William G. Ewing, served on the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church.

The 1946 Normal class was comprised of pupils from the following countries, and states in the United States: England, Scotland, Canada, Alabama, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
