Many years ago while in Colorado I noticed a sign in the window of a store announcing a Christian Science lecture. I was deeply troubled and in very poor health, and the sign attracted my attention. I attended the lecture that night, and immediately began the study of Christian Science. Through reading the Christian Science textbook by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of a complication of diseases which a physician had diagnosed as asthma, heart trouble, and stomach trouble.
I continued in the study of this Science and applied it to every problem which arose. However, it was not until recently that I became a member of The Mother Church and an active member of a branch church. For these steps of progress, which stand out in my life as among its biggest blessings, I am very grateful. I am thankful also for the help of a practitioner, whose encouragement aided me in making the spiritual progress necessary for these important steps.
Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matt. 6:33). I endeavored to obey this admonition, and found that my human needs were met in every way. I have learned from daily experience that God is a very present Father-Mother, always ready and able to help, and that Christian Science is truly the promised Comforter. I am grateful to God for this Science and to Mrs. Eddy for bringing it to mankind. For the joy and uplift which come to me through the study of the Lesson-Sermon each day and through reading the literature and the words to our hymns I am grateful. I appreciate the Reading Rooms, where we truly find "the secret place." The lectures continue to help me and I am ever grateful that one of them led me into this study, which has resulted in an understanding, in some degree, of the truth which makes free.— Saint Johns, Michigan.
