I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science because it has meant everything to me for many years.
I was born and reared in an atmosphere of love on a large Maryland farm, but never did any hard work until I was married and moved to another farm. Then I did work that only men were supposed to do and even accomplished as much as some of the laborers. This, with heavy household duties and childbearing, caused a complete breakdown. Five of the best local physicians, including three specialists, attended me, then pronounced my case incurable and recommended that I spend the rest of my days in a different climate. I was told that this would prolong my life, but would not guarantee a cure.
For my child's sake I wanted to live. In desperation I prayed to God to show me the way. My prayers were answered. A friend who was a student of Christian Science asked me to seek a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. This I did and in a short time was completely free; also several so-called hereditary diseases disappeared. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 298), "The true consciousness is the true health."
