St. John in testifying of the acts of Jesus...

From the November 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

St. John in testifying of the acts of Jesus said (John 21:25), "If they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." In attempting to express my gratitude for the infinite blessings that have come to me through the revelation of Christ, Truth, I too feel the inadequacy of human facilities to convey ideas worthy of the goodness of divine Love.

Christian Science came to me in a time of great need while I was in the Army. My work, of an exacting clerical nature, necessitated long and irregular hours. During this period my hearing became defective, insomuch that often I did not hear the conversations of my associates and I depended upon lip reading a great deal. An aggravated eye condition developed which required medical treatment. A skin allergy to wool which I had had all my life became very discomforting at this time.

I consulted the Army doctors, and they ordered glasses and treated my eyes, pronounced my eardrums punctured and beyond their help, and when the allergy failed to respond to their treatments, recommended that I be sent to a hospital specializing in skin diseases.
