Testimonies of Healing

When one attempts to give a testimony...

From the November 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When one attempts to give a testimony of the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science, it becomes clear that any such testimony can but briefly touch upon the countless number of causes for gratitude of which one becomes aware.

Whilst serving in the Royal Navy, I had innumerable opportunities of proving the truths of Christian Science and of realizing how literally those words of the Psalmist, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty," could be applied.

One instance of this occurred whilst the ship on which I was serving was escorting a large convoy of merchant ships from England to Africa. About 2 a.m. on the eighth day out the action station bells sounded, and shortly afterwards it was announced from the bridge over the loudspeaker system that a U-boat was known to be in our immediate vicinity. A few minutes after this it was announced that a torpedo was heading directly for our ship. Immediately all was pandemonium. My action station was deep in the ship's magazine, and I can remember so well the angel message which came to me instantly. It was Mrs. Eddy's reassuring statement from Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
