In the words of the Psalmist (Ps. 3:4), "I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill." After a long and futile search for healing under materia medica, I turned to Christian Science in desperation and was healed.

For about seven years I suffered from severe stomach trouble, having an acute attack every four or five weeks. With each attack the pain was so severe that it seemed necessary for me to take an opiate and remain in bed several days. I had sought help from physicians in different parts of the country, and they had variously diagnosed the difficulty as gall bladder trouble, chronic appendicitis, and nervous indigestion. The only point on which they agreed was the necessity of an operation to remove the gall bladder; they told me that I would never be well without such an operation.

When I became pregnant, the severity of the attacks made me afraid of losing the baby. In my fear and desperation I resolved to try Christian Science. Late one night I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner. She lovingly quieted my fears, gave me some passages to read in the Bible, and promised to work for me. That night I slept soundly, whereas for some nights previously I had been walking the floor in pain.
