I am most grateful for the friend who lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The chapter on Prayer healed me of apprehension regarding my oldest brother, a soldier who was crossing perilous seas during the First World War. He came home unharmed.
I began earnestly to study daily the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly and to attend regularly the church services; and I gained much help and joy. Continuous growth, protection, and progress have unfolded. I became a member of The Mother Church and had class instruction from a teacher who lived for a time in Mrs. Eddy's home. I became a member of the branch church where I first learned to know and love the truth, and served in almost every capacity in it.
During this period of progress there have been beautiful healings of severe chest colds, indigestion, headaches, constipation, skin trouble, a throat condition, and a sprained ankle. Christian Science has also been a wonderful help in preventing the development of illness.
