Christian Science has helped me to see good everywhere. In seeing good, we are seeing the ever-presence of God.
When I began to study this Science I lived in a two-family house with a member of my family who was of an orthodox faith and who felt much opposed to Christian Science. For six months I said nothing about my new-found religion, but as I studied and used the Word of Truth, I desired to join a Christian Science church. A kind practitioner cautioned me that I should not try to protect my stand by a great deal of conversation, but that I should quietly and lovingly reveal my intentions and then be faithful in the mental work which Christian Science teaches us to do.
As I worked to overcome the inharmonious home situation I found my concept of love expanding from a small view of love for family alone to a larger, more spiritual view of love which includes all mankind. And when I gained that greater love, I found it does not exclude anyone, for its greatness is all-encompassing. A harmonious relationship was achieved, and it has continued. I realize now that violent family opposition was only a steppingstone to help me become a serious student of Christian Science.
