I became a student of Christian Science after it healed me of an eye injury. Because of this injury I was sent by the firm I worked for to an eye specialist. After an examination he told me that I would never see clearly, if at all, with that eye again. He bandaged the eye and told me not to use it. Also he said I must not go back to work for at least two weeks and then only at his authorization.
When I returned to my rooming house my landlady said that I could be healed of my injury and suggested that I see a Christian Science, practitioner. At that time I knew very little about Christian Science, but I felt that I could not accept the doctor's verdict. I made an appointment and immediately went to see a practitioner. I do not remember much of what was told me at that meeting; but on my way home I stopped at the local Reading Room to purchase a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, as the practitioner had recommended that I do. Upon reaching my room, I started to read the new book. It was tiresome to read with only one eye; so I removed the bandage the doctor had put on and spent the rest of the day reading with both eyes.
The next morning I went back to my duties, which included doing design work on a drawing board. My sight was perfect, and I discontinued wearing glasses, which I had used for several years prior to this time. When it came time for me to report to the doctor I went to his office, and upon examining the eye, he said, "That is the most miraculous healing I have ever witnessed." I did not tell him what had been done, but went my way thanking God for His wonderful work.
