In gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me I submit the following testimony. While was in combat service with the Army Air Forces during World War II our plane was shot down by antiaircraft fire at a twenty-two-thousand-foot altitude. Orders were given to bail out; so I leaped and pulled the rip cord of the parachute, but nothing happened. I was not afraid; in fact, I was very calm, due to my understanding of the truth that saves, and it came to me that truth unfolds. Removing my gloves, I was able to open the parachute with my hands, and I floated safely to the ground.
I landed deep in enemy territory, but got to Allied territory, where I joined the other members of my crew. After forty-three days of grueling travel, when we were sometimes very close to the enemy lines and in danger of capture, we reached transportation that helped us back to our group, where we once more were able to serve our country. When I arrived at the base the first letter handed me was from a practitioner I knew. On it were written the words, "All is well." I thought, Yes, truly all is well.
For this experience of God's protection and many others I had while serving our country, I am indeed grateful. I am also grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us Christian Science.—Holliston, Massachusetts.
