Through Christian Science I have been able to overcome an extreme fear of enclosed and underground places which had troubled me for many years.
My wife and I recently toured through northern New Zealand, and when we found ourselves at Waitomo we naturally wanted to visit the famous glowworm cave. But one look at the cave entrance, which was a little gray door in the cliffside, was enough for me, and I told my wife that I did not know how I could go through with the trip. As we had an hour before the time for the trip to start, we took a walk down the road in order to talk the matter over, realizing that my fear must be met and mastered there and then.
We began by lifting thought to the realization of perfect God and perfect man. We declared that God was always present everywhere and that nothing could take us outside of His power and presence. Knowing that gratitude is an important element in healing, we realized that gratitude must open the way for spiritual ideas to come into consciousness.
