For all the joy, strength, and courage that Christian Science has brought to me over a long period of years I can never express in words my grateful thanks to our Father-Mother God.
From childhood I had been a great sufferer from nervous headaches which completely prostrated me for a couple of days at a time. This was known to a friend of mine, who one day asked me if I had ever heard of Christian Science. I had not heard of it; so this good friend put me in touch with a student of this Science, who gave me some general knowledge of it and lent me the textbook, Science and Health, by Mrs. Eddy. She also introduced me to a practitioner, who began giving me treatments. While being helped in this way I became so uplifted in thought that as I walked some distance to my school each day alone, I would rehearse over and over again the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation from the Christian Science textbook (pp. 16,17).
One day while great spiritual uplift was being experienced, the effect of an internal trouble, which a doctor had previously told me would require an operation in a few months' time, became visible. This I told to the practitioner, and she remarked, "Yes, it has become visible for you to see it disappear into its native nothingness." With her loving help this is exactly what happened. In two days the whole trouble had disappeared without discharge or pain, and the healing has been permanent.
