From the February 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Normal class in the Board of Education was held early in December, 1952. In accordance with the provisions of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy (Art. XXX, Sect. 1), a Normal class convenes on the first Wednesday of December every third year.

The teacher of the 1952 class was Miss Emma C. Shipman, C.S.B., of Brookline, Massachusetts. Miss Shipman has been a student of Christian Science since early girlhood. On the occasion of the dedication of the White Mountain church, near Fabyans, New Hampshire, at the instance of our Leader, she read Mrs. Eddy's address, now found in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," pages 184—186. In November, 1898, she was called to the last class taught by Mrs. Eddy, held in Concord, New Hampshire. Afterwards, at Mrs. Eddy's request, she began the work of teaching Christian Science, in which she has engaged since that time. She has been a frequent contributor to the Christian Science periodicals and for several years was a member of the Christian Science Bible Lesson Committee.

The pupils in the class came from many states in the United States, and from countries abroad, as follows: Denmark, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington. It was made up of the pupils of twenty-seven different teachers.
