Christian Science came into my experience when I had lost my husband, home, material possessions, health, and joy. Throughout this wilderness experience, although I felt like an empty vessel, I never lost an insatiable thirst for Truth, a great longing to find God. When I was at the lowest point in this experience the gentle ministrations of Christian Science were lovingly proffered by a loyal student of this blessed Science.
I immediately gained strength and confidence in God through faithful study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, regular attendance at a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and frequent visits to a Christian Science Reading Room, where I learned to love the authorized literature.
So complete was the turning away from disappointment and loss that only the precious lessons I learned remain. All the unhappiness is as though it had never been. I am gaining in the understanding that man, the image and likeness of God, is spiritual, complete, perfect, and dearly beloved. This truth dispels the shadows of the belief of an existence separate from God and fulfills the promise found in Isaiah (65:17), "Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind."
