Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, slates in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 262), "Dear readers, our Journal is designed to bring health and happiness to all households wherein it is permitted to enter, and to confer increased power to be good and to do good." During the past twenty years or more our home has been blessed by the regular entrance of the periodicals, including the Journal. I have been grateful for and inspired by the testimonies of healing, and it is with a sense of deep gratitude that I humbly submit my testimony.
I did not begin reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, with an expectation of healing. A dear one in my family had turned to Christian Science for healing and asked me to read the book in order that I might help him understand it. I did so and found myself accepting its inspiring ideas from the first line in the Preface to the last testimony in the chapter entitled "Fruitage." As I was employed, my only time for reading was at night after the household was quiet. Because of weak eyes, I used glasses with special lenses, which in the opinion of eminent oculists were necessary if I was to continue reading, sewing, or doing the type of work in which I was then engaged.
One night while reading the textbook I found myself so absorbed in it that I read for several hours before putting out my light. The next morning I reached under my pillow for my glasses as usual, only to find that they were not there. After a further search I was led to my purse on the dresser. There I discovered them in the place where I had put them on leaving work the previous day.
