For nineteen years I have had the wonderful privilege of being a Christian Scientist. This Science has brought me the priceless blessings of security, health, happiness, supply, and the practical knowledge that man is God's child and that God loves him.
I began the study of Christian Science to find happiness and the God I knew as a child, when I attended the infant class in an orthodox Sunday School and was taught that God is Love. Later teaching in that and other churches, however, did not agree with this childhood concept of God. When I read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I knew it was the truth regarding God.
A healing which stands out in my experience was that of an ugly growth on my hand. It grew in size and was constantly painful, manifesting evidence which was very frightening. When I became discouraged, I earnestly prayed for greater understanding of God, and I made a thorough study of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy so that I could more understandingly obey its By-Laws. The healing took place in about three months, soon after I requested Christian Science treatment from a loving friend and practitioner. All pain vanished, and a few days later the growth began to come off bit by bit, leaving no scar. I am sure that the practitioner detected the false sense of responsibility and fear of failure in my thought, for I was healed of them also.
